SHANTELLE BISSON
Two years ago, my family and I connected with Shelter Movers,
and the connection was immediate and deeply personal. Having
grown up in a tumultuous environment, I was immediately taken
with Shelter Movers. They work tirelessly to bring their mission and
belief into action by helping families fleeing abuse to take their first
steps toward safety and a fresh start. This year I am honoured to
chair the committee.
Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about supporting
children and families. As an author, entrepreneur, advocate and
mother to three women, I have worked to spread awareness.
Through my books, including Raising Your Kids Without Losing
Your Cool, Parenting Your Teen Without Losing Your Cool and
Loving Yourself Without Losing Your Cool, I’ve always aimed to
offer parents practical, compassionate guidance as they navigate
the challenges and joys of family life.
No matter how hard life can be, there is beauty in knowing we are
never alone. This year I am honoured to be joined by my daughters,
Dominique and Mikaela Bisson, on the committee for A Moving
Affair. Watching your children grow up committed to making the
world a better place is all you can ask for as a parent. Yannick and
I are so grateful to help other women give their children a stable
home and chance to plant roots, to grow to their full potential.
The greatest way to make your own life better, is by helping
somebody make their life better. Go first. Be first. Do not wait for
others to go before you. Every child deserves to be safe in their
home, to be offered the opportunity to grow on stable ground,
free from violence, free from harm. and surrounded by love. As a
family, we are grateful to stand alongside an organization working
tirelessly to do just so.
