The Shelter Movers Compassion in Action Award is presented to a
volunteer who exemplifies the very heart of our mission — showing
extraordinary empathy, dedication, and leadership in service to
survivors of gender-based violence.
This award honours an individual who goes above and beyond
to create safe, supportive experiences for clients and fellow
volunteers alike. Through their compassion, reliability and
unwavering commitment, they remind us that every act of kindness
has the power to change lives.
This year, we are proud to recognize Todd Burnside as our 2026
award recipient.
Across Southwestern Ontario, Todd Burnside is a powerful example
of allyship and compassion in action. Since joining Shelter Movers
as a volunteer in February 2021, Todd has completed more than
375 moves, supporting survivors on their journey to safety. His
dedication exemplifies the profound difference one person can
make in the lives of survivors.
